Other Bible passages the brothers cited to give Christians a framework for wealth included Luke 19, specifically The Parable of the 10 Minas. In that parable, a king expects his subjects to invest and multiply their wealth and is not pleased with the servant who does not.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 instructs believers to earn their own income and not be dependent on others. Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.” Proverbs 27:23 says, “Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds.”
In the last talk before lunch, entrepreneur and business owner Steve Champa helped move the focus of the content from “why” to “how,” telling attendees part of his personal story and offering insights into trading and investing. Those who wished to take a deeper dive into the topic were presented with the option of signing up for one of Life Surge’s three-day Impact Classes, Trade Surge, for $97 with the ability to bring a friend for free. A class on real estate and a class on business were offered later in the day; anyone who signed up for one of the classes could get the other two for free.
One of the most compelling speakers in the eyes of the audience appeared to be Ed Mylett, a global entrepreneur, bestselling author, and top-ranked podcast host. “You were born to do something great with your life,” Mylett told attendees.
Mylett’s talk featured the story of how Mylett’s father went from being an alcoholic and drug addict to, with God’s help, getting sober and transforming his life. Mylett described his love for his father, his father’s passing, and how much he missed his dad. The speaker challenged Life Surge attendees to ponder which one decision they needed to make.
How should they live now, knowing that all people will die? Every person has two to three God-given gifts, said Mylett, noting, “You’re most qualified to help those you used to be.” The audience gave Mylett a standing ovation when he was done.
After Mylett spoke, Marcell came out and gave a gospel presentation, telling attendees this was the most important part of the day. He encouraged people to commit or to recommit their lives to God, and more than 1,100 people responded. In his interview with ChurchLeaders, Marcell said at the time that “this year alone at our events, we’ve seen over 15,000 people give their hearts to Jesus.”

Other presenters during the day included business expert James Smith, illusionist and “America’s Got Talent” winner Dustin Tavella, and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis. Later in the afternoon, Marcell interviewed Willie and Korie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” about their experiences as entrepreneurs.

Willie had the audience rolling with stories about how his bubblegum side hustle put his elementary school concession stand out of business and about how he made money as a kid from being a “human jukebox.”
