Willie also touched on the passing of his father, Phil Robertson, who died earlier this year. Despite the sorrow that comes with Phil’s death, Willie said there is also “a certain joy” because Phil’s hope was in Jesus. In fact, Willie mentioned that Phil did not want to do “Duck Dynasty” when the opportunity first arose but was convinced to do it after Willie told him it would be a way for the Robertson family to help viewers hear the gospel.
Tim Tebow closed the day by exhorting attendees to pursue humility as they stepped out in faith and implemented what they had learned that day. He cited James 4, which says that God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humility is a daily practice, Tebow said, not something that we master. He encouraged attendees with Ephesians 2:10, which tells believers that God has prepared good works for us to do.
Pursuing ambition without humility “is not Christianity,” said Tebow. “Christianity is that I was a sinner, but God loved me so much that he came on the greatest love story rescue mission of all time to save me from what I could not save myself from.”
