Angel Studios and Wonder Project have released the first trailer for the upcoming biopic “Young Washington,” set to be released in theaters during July 4th weekend in 2026.
“Young Washington” is a collaboration between Angel, an unprecedented media and technology company powered by 1.5 million grassroots Angel Guild members, and Wonder Project, an emerging entertainment brand producing and curating premium films and series for faith and values audiences.
“With this teaser trailer, audiences are getting their first real look at the scale, emotion, and power of ‘Young Washington,’” said Brandon Purdie, head of theatrical distribution and brand development at Angel. “It captures the tension, courage, and humanity of a leader whose formative story has rarely been told on screen.”
“We’re honored to bring this epic to theaters for America’s 250th anniversary and thrilled to see audiences already engaging and securing their seats to experience ‘Young Washington’ on the biggest screens possible,” Purdie added.
According to the film’s synopsis, “Young Washington” tells the story of George Washington, an ambitious 22-year-old “who must face his failures and find the courage to become the leader that will forge a nation” following the nation’s “tremendous mistake that triggers the French and Indian War.”
For KING + COUNTRY’s Joel Smallbone (“Unsung Hero”) will join award-winning actors Ben Kingsley (“Schindler’s List,” “The King of Kings“), Andy Serkis (“Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,” “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Black Panther”), Mary-Louise Parker (“Weeds,” “The Institute”), and Kelsey Grammer (“Cheers,” “Frasier,” “Jesus Revolution”).
The film is written and directed by Wonder Project founder and “House of David” creator Jon Erwin (“Jesus Revolution,” “The Jesus Music,” “Woodlawn,” “I Can Only Imagine”).
“House of David,” an epic series following the rise of Israel’s most renowned king, garnered 44 million views and is estimated to have reached 80 million people in its first season on Prime Video.
Season 2 of “House of David” debuted on Oct. 5 on Wonder Project’s new streaming subscription platform exclusively on Prime Video.
