Bieber told his friends about how his mom encouraged him to memorize Scripture when he was little. Bieber said:

One thing my mom really emphasized when I was little—she would give me a calendar. And when you’re a kid, if you get a gold sticker? Oh man, all you want is a gold sticker—you’re rich. She would give me a Bible verse every day or week or some sh*t, and if I did it, I’d get a gold star. So I would just memorize it. It made me really conscious about how important that was…it’s so powerful when you can, because the Scripture is holy. I really believe that. Some maybe don’t, but I really believe that it’s sacred Scripture. So when you recite that sh*t, you know it has ancient text from ancient people—passed down. There’s real heart and soul in that sh*t that you can feel—like it hits you right here, where you can’t deny it type sh*t.

“I think that’s cool when you get these downloads—like that was not from me. That was straight from God,” said Bieber.

Toward the conclusion of the conversation, Bieber encouraged those who are struggling with “self-image” and wondering if they are worthy of love that “God says you are.” Bieber said, “I don’t make the rules. But Jesus says that—and I really believe him.”

Bieber added:

I believe he loved us so much he put on skin and bones and came to this earth as a human, lived a sinless life so we don’t have to be focusing on sin—because none of us can do the right thing all the time. He went to the cross, he was lashed, whipped, made fun of, and rose on the third day, defeating death, hell, and the grave. Now we get to live free and, rather than focus on sin, now we can focus on Jesus, the wonderful Savior. I really think he’s the King of the world, bro. He’s the King of Hollywood, the King of LA, and he’s the King of my heart.

Bieber said, “That’s facts, bro.”
