Thompson told ChurchLeaders that military strikes involve extensive planning, legal review, and operational oversight, challenging misconceptions that such actions are taken lightly.

He also addressed the Christian perspective on these operations, acknowledging that while the use of force is never ideal, there are circumstances where national self-defense aligns with moral responsibility.
