It is a “miracle” that a 57-year-old woman survived a plane crash landing on her car while she was driving on I-95 in Florida, says Annie Wigley, a pastor from Melbourne, Florida.
Wigley, her husband Pastor Bernard Wigley, and their daughter were on their way to Orlando International Airport when they stopped to assist people at the scene after a small plane crashed onto the interstate. Remarkably, no one died or was seriously injured.
“I knew it was God that saved her, absolutely,” Annie Wigley told Fox 35 News of the woman who was in the car when the plane landed on her. “Even the two pilots that was in the plane, for them to have landed and only hit the one car, I knew God was in control.”
Florida Plane Crash Could Have Been Much Worse
On Monday, Dec. 8, a Beechcraft 55 airplane reportedly had engine problems and descended onto I-95 in Brevard County, crashing into a 2023 Toyota Camry. While the crash totaled the car, the 57-year-old woman driving it somehow sustained only minor injuries.

James Coffey and his son, Peter, were driving on I-25 behind the crash as it happened and recorded the shocking incident on their dashboard camera. As the plane descends into the frame and toward the highway, James can be heard saying, “Holy s***!” The crash happens and the car starts pulling over as Peter repeatedly says, “Oh my goodness.”
They decide to get out of the car and call 911. “I cannot believe my eyes,” says Peter.
The two spoke to CNN’s Erica Hill about their experience. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said James.
“And then when you see the impact and you see sparks flying and debris start to fly all over the highway,” he said, “for half a second, I didn’t change lanes, and then realized, my car’s getting hit with debris from this thing…I gotta get out of the way and preserve us.”
Peter said that when he saw the debris, he started “getting really scared,” wondering what might fly through the air and hit them.
James’ next thought was whether or not the pilots or the woman in the car was ok. First responders showed up quickly, however, which James called “miraculous.”
James pointed out how much worse the crash could have been. Playing his video back, he noticed there was a truck carrying liquid oxygen nearby. “Had the plane struck that truck, things could have been catastrophic,” he said.
