Russell Moore, theologian, author, and editor-at-large for Christianity Today, wrote, “How this vile, disgusting, and immoral behavior has become normalized in the United States is something our descendants will study in school, to the shame of our generation.”

Author and Bible teacher Beth Moore replied to Moore’s post, saying, “It seems like basic human decency ought not be too much to ask for.”

Pastor Rick Warren’s wife, Kay, posted, “Is there even one cell of humanity and kindness in the president?”

Promise Keepers Chairman and CEO Shane Winnings shared his disproval for Trump’s comments through an Instagram video. Winnings said that the president’s comments were “disgusting,” “narcissistic,” and “inconsiderate.”

Pro-life activist and Live Action founder Lila Rose asked Trump to take his post down. “President Trump, preserve the dignity of your office. Take this down,” she said.

Influencer Samuel Sey described Trump’s post as “despicable” and wrote, “Considering what people said about the assassination attempt against him and the assassination of his friend, Charlie Kirk—this is horrible. President Trump should be ashamed of himself.”

“Truly sad to see @POTUS respond to Rob Reiner’s murder in the shameful way he did,” posted Pastor Tom Buck. “He had an opportunity to model grace and mercy in the face of wickedness. I despised Reiner’s politics, but every life should be treated with dignity. I pray those around Trump will correct him.”

Pastor Douglas Wilson wrote, “Not that there is really any ambiguity, but for the record, the president’s response to the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele was grotesque.”

Owen Strachan, theologian and director of OneGospel Ministries, said, “A man of courage and action, President Trump has done so many good things. But we see in comments like this that he is a sinner just like us who needs Christ just as we do.”

“We all naturally hate our enemies—but the gospel frees us from this prison, praise God. Pray for him!” Strachan added. Strachan continued, in another post, “At the Charlie Kirk memorial, President Trump talked about how Erika Kirk forgave her enemies. Trump then said that he ‘hates’ his enemies.”

“Trump has enough Christian influence around him to see the contrast of a Christian and non-Christian heart,” said Stachan. “May God save a sinner like me!”
