Christian leaders and influencers have been quick to blast President Donald Trump’s comments that followed the murder of beloved filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner (78) and his wife, film producer Michele Singer Reiner (68).
According to reports, Rob and Michele were allegedly murdered by their 32-year-old son, Nick, on the afternoon of Sunday (Dec. 14). One of Reiner’s daughters alerted authorities after discovering Rob and Michele in their home with both of their throats slit. Nick was later arrested and is being held without out bond. Rob was previously married to actor Penny Marshall from 1971-1981. He married Michele in 1989.
Reiner is known for directing the films “A Few Good Men,” “The Princess Bride,” “Misery,” “Stand by Me,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” “When Harry Met Sally,” and “The American President.”

During his lifetime, the Academy Award-winning director wasn’t shy about his disproval of Trump. Reiner once called Trump “mentally unfit” and “the single most unqualified human being to ever assume the presidency of the United States.”
During an interview with Piers Morgan in September, Reiner shared his reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder and commended Kirk’s widow, Erika, for forgiving her husband’s killer on live television. Reiner described his immediate reaction to the assassination as “horror.”
“Absolute horror. And I unfortunately saw the video of it, and it’s beyond belief what happened to him, and that should never happen to anybody,” he said. “I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution to solving problems.”
“I felt what his wife said at the memorial they had was exactly right. I’m Jewish, but I believe in the teachings of Jesus and I believe in ‘do unto others,’ and I believe in forgiveness. And what she said, to me, was beautiful,” Reiner said. “She forgave his assassin, and I think that is admirable.”

Shortly after the news of the Reiners’ deaths were confirmed, Trump posted this comment on Truth Social:
A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!
Numerous Trump supporters and critics blasted the president’s comments, calling them “disgusting,” “vile,” “disappointing,” “despicable,” “grotesque,” and “shameful.”
