“And so I think to myself, well, he’s giving me these opportunities for a reason,” he said. “So I’m going to just dive in as best as I can, as flawed as I am, and just try to give as much of myself to him in this journey and go as far as I can and see where he takes me.”

At the end of the conversation, Schmitz asked for any final thoughts. Roumie said, “Everybody’s going through something. Everybody suffers at some point. It’s just part of our journey here.” 

“And if you haven’t already done so…offer your suffering up in communion with Christ’s suffering; that’s the only way,” said Roumie. “It’s the only way to get through it, is to give your suffering to him. And he will make use of it, and you will receive grace because of it.”
