On Jan. 12, Tyler Poole, 21, the man who shot Pastor Greg Locke’s home in 2024, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment ahead of his March court date.
On Sept. 3, 2024, Poole riddled Locke’s home in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee with more than 60 rounds of bullets. One of Locke’s children was inside the home at the time of the shooting but was not injured. Locke and his wife, Tai, pastor Global Vision Bible Church, which recently relocated to Lebanon, Tennessee.
Locke shared photos of the aftermath on social media. One image showed a bullet hole in the headboard of his youngest daughter’s bed. The shooting occurred moments before Locke and the rest of his family pulled into the driveway.
The controversial pastor has previously told ChurchLeaders that it is not unusual for him to receive death threats, as he often stokes controversy through passionate sermons and social media posts.
According to records from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, Poole has remained in jail since being booked Dec. 4, 2024. His bond was set at $50,000.
Following his guilty plea, Poole was sentenced to five years in prison on all charges and will receive credit for time already served.
Wilson County Assistant District Attorney Tammy Meade told The Christian Post that one of Locke’s family members was the intended target of the shooting.
“This had nothing to do with Greg Locke, except he owned the house where it happened,” Meade said. “It wasn’t retribution for anything he did. It had nothing to do with his teachings.”

“I have some of the best investigators in the country that worked this case. There is no doubt in my mind, and I’ve been doing this for 30 years, that this had nothing to do with that church,” the assistant district attorney continued. “It was between the juvenile and one of his friends. It was a beef between young men.”

Pastor Greg Locke told ChurchLeaders that his family has forgiven Poole and plans to visit him in jail soon. While taking aim at The Roys Report for its coverage of Poole’s plea, Locke said, “First, The Roys Report is the Jerry Springer of internet reporting. It was my family and our home, so it had everything to do with me.”
