Actor and comedian Tim Allen has finished reading the Bible and plans to read it again. Allen shared the news Wednesday, Feb. 4, in an X post that has gotten 1.8 million views as of this writing.

“Finished the entire Bible it’s been a 13 month word by word page by page no skimming journey,” Allen said. “Humbled, enlightened and amazed at what I read and what I learned. I will rest and meditate on so much. I will begin it again.”

Trevin Wax, vice president of research and resource development at the North American Mission Board, commented, “Press on, Tim!”

Tim Allen is an actor and stand-up comic who is known for TV shows including “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing” and movies such as the “Toy Story” franchise, “The Santa Clause” franchise, and “Galaxy Quest.”

In August 2024, Allen shared with fans that he was reading the Bible for the first time and called it “amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”

At the time, Allen said that he had never “really read the Bible” and that he was “currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets.” In June 2025, Allen said he was done with the Old Testament and was reading the New Testament. He said he was “amazed” by the experience.

Last month, Allen shared some of his thoughts on the Bible with fellow comedian and commentator Bill Maher, an atheist, on Maher’s podcast, “Club Random.”

The Apostle Paul “said something very intuitive that I’m still studying because he says law was basically invented to develop sin,” Allen told Maher. “Without law, you don’t know what sinful is. So, law was basically just to give you guardrails of what the world is.”

Numerous people responded to Allen with excitement and encouragement. The Family Research Council (FRC) said, “Well done, Tim Allen,” and suggested an FRC Bible reading plan.
