As one of his achievements, Trump mentioned defending Christians in Nigeria. “When Christians come under attack, [the attackers] know they’re going to be attacked violently and viciously by President Trump,” he said. “I know it’s not a nice thing to say, but that’s the way it is.”

“No administration in modern history has done more to confront the plight of persecuted Christians around the world than we have,” Trump claimed.

With regard to the Dec. 25 strike the U.S. carried out against ISIS terrorists in Nigeria, Trump said, “We hit them so hard they still don’t know what the hell happened. And we were going to do it on a different day. I said, ‘No, do it on Christmas so they understand it.’”

“As the Bible tells us, blessed are the peacemakers,” Trump said. “That’s true. The peacemakers are very important. But you can only have peace, I find, through strength. If you don’t have strength, peace is very hard.”

At one point, the president commented, “This is a religious breakfast. You’re going to walk away and say, ‘He’s the meanest son of a gun I’ve ever seen.’ But I’m not. I just want to keep our country safe.”

The president said numerous times that the 2020 election was “rigged” and described how necessary it was for him personally to win a second term.

“It wasn’t easy. You know, they rigged the second election. I had to win it, had to win it,” he said. “I needed it for my own ego. I would have had a bad ego for the rest of my life. Now, I really have a big ego, though. Beating these lunatics was incredible, right? What a great feeling.”

Part of the way through his speech, Trump alluded to how much he was rambling. “At some point I’m going to get right back onto the teleprompter, and you’re going to say, ‘That was a wonderful speech,’” he said.

Trump claimed that “religion is coming back” in the U.S. “And now it’s no longer signs,” he said. “It’s just coming back. It’s coming back so strong…your churches are filling up.”

“I’ve always said you just can’t have a great country if you don’t have religion,” said Trump. “You have to believe in something. You have to believe that what we’re doing, there’s a reason for it.”
