“Watching the whole video doesn’t make the portrayal of @BarackObama and @MichelleObama as primates any less racist,” said Raymond Chang, president of the Asian American Christian Collaborative. “Jordan Peele did a great job in describing what it looks like when minorities (of all backgrounds) dwell in the sunken place. Every community has them.”
“It’s remarkable to watch Christians try to say that this is anything less than racist with the whole history of Black people perpetually being labeled and marked as some form of primate as a way to demean and degrade them,” Chang said.
“This is bulls*** spin,” said conservative broadcaster Erick Erickson, responding to an X user who said, “Trump DID NOT post the cartoon. He posted the election video, and the cartoon played after, like any other reel on YouTube or TikTok.”
“The video was a recorded video. The video stayed recording the next reel and could have easily been trimmed,” Erickson said. “But it was not trimmed. The person who posted this just didn’t think it mattered. It was incompetence. Stop gaslighting us.”
