“But we make a mistake when we think that we need to grab the mirror and wash ourselves with it, right?” Huff said. “That’s not going to clean us. We need something external. We need to jump in the shower.”
“The law has a purpose and a good purpose, and that’s to show us that we’re dirty. But it’s through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone that we’re saved,” he went on. “That’s something that he has done. We’re saved by works—just not ours.” It is the work of Christ that saves us.

“When I say we’re not saved by our works, but we’re saved for our works, what I mean by that is that the works are actually the evidence to show that God has truly done something in our life,” Huff explained. “And now we see that movement in our heart.”
Whether or not a person is saved is between that person and God. However, if we look at the life of people who claim to be a Christians and don’t see any difference between how they’re living and how non-believers are living, we can be concerned.
The person’s situation “either means that you’re not living the life that God has called you to, or you’re in real danger that you don’t actually understand who Jesus is and what he’s done for you on your behalf,” Huff said. “Works are an outpouring of the love.”
