“Thank you for allowing me to serve you, to serve people of faith, and to serve the American people,” said White-Cain. “I’ve heard many people take credit for you being here or for some of your victories and for being in the sacred office of the president. But the truth of it is, is you are here because of God and because of you.”

“And I just want to share this thought and pray over President Trump,” White-Cain said. “Jesus taught us so many lessons through his death, burial, and resurrection. He showed us [that] great leadership, great transformation requires great sacrifice. And Mr. President, no one has paid the price like you have paid the price.”

“So true,” said Jeffress, who was standing near the president.

“It almost cost you your life,” White-Cain told Trump. “You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused. It’s a familiar pattern that our Lord and Savior showed us. But it didn’t end there for him, and it didn’t end there for you. God always had a plan.”

“On the third day, he rose. He defeated evil. He conquered death, hell, and the grave. And because he rose, we all know that we can rise,” she continued. “And sir, because of his resurrection, you rose up. Because he was victorious, you were victorious.”

“And I believe that the Lord said to tell you this,” White-Cain added. “Because of his victory, you will be victorious in all you put your hand to because God is with you, and God is using you to defeat evil, to restore families, to awaken the church, to harvest the nations, and to bring a worldwide revival.”

White-Cain then had Jeffress and Graham lay hands on Trump as she prayed for the president.

“Just come in agreement with me,” she said, “for 2 Chronicles 7:14 declares, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themself and pray, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.’”

White-Cain then prayed for God’s guidance, righteousness, and blessing over the United States and over President Donald Trump, asking that his decisions be marked by divine wisdom and favor. She prayed for protection, long life, and generational blessing over Trump, his family, and the nation, concluding with gratitude for his leadership.

Critics were swift to condemn White-Cain’s comparison of Trump’s experiences to Jesus’ Passion. The White House reportedly posted footage of the Easter lunch but later took it down

“We got a group of men up there who don’t believe in having a woman in the pulpit taking orders from a woman in the pulpit twisting scripture in front of them, and they applaud,” said conservative Christian broadcaster Erick Erickson. “But did you hear about that Bible verse John Piper tweeted?”

“Heretic & leader of the White House Faith Office, Paula White, compared President Trump’s political persecution to the persecution of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ at the Easter Luncheon,” said commentator Jon Root. “Insanity.”
