Mortenson added, “The idea that everything can and must be explained by slow, gradual processes, just natural processes; those assumptions took control of geology 200 years ago from a conscious rejection of the Word of God and the creation and the flood accounts.” 

“You know, what they’re really saying is man’s word is infallible; God’s Word is fallible when it comes to origins,” said Ham. Mortenson replied, “And Eric Metaxas basically says, ‘Hugh Ross’ words are infallible.’”

Ham emphasized that he does not believe there is room for Christians to disagree on these issues, saying, “It matters to take God at his word. And the church really has lost biblical authority.”
