Family friend Bishop James Dixon spoke with ABC 13, addressing Longmire directly on behalf of Mouton’s family and saying, “They do want you to own up to what you’ve done. Say, ‘Yes, I did it,’ rather than prolong the situation. If you’re guilty, say, ‘Yes. I’m guilty. I made a bad decision.’ Ask the court for mercy. That’s the way to handle this.”
“We’ve got to learn to value life beyond an argument, beyond a dispute, and understand that when you take life from someone else, you take something from you,” Dixon added.

In a previous statement, East Bethel Missionary Baptist Church said, “Dr. Mouton was known and loved by many. If you knew him, you would know him to be a gracious servant, a leader, and a friend.”
Mouton leaves behind his wife of nearly 40 years, four children, and 10 grandchildren.
