Musk Lifts Trump Twitter Ban, Posts Sexually Suggestive Religious Meme With Bible Quote

In that letter, Alcuin writes, “And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness.”

While Trump’s account has been restored, at the time of this article, he has yet to post a tweet. He has previously said that he would not return to the platform. Instead, Trump’s stated intention is to remain active exclusively on his new social media platform, Truth Social.

Nevertheless, Musk apparently attempted to goad Trump into returning to Twitter on Sunday (Nov. 20), or at least poked fun at him for not already having done so, via a meme posted to the platform.

[Editorial Note: Musk’s tweet contains content that some readers may find offensive.]

“And lead us not into temptation,” the now viral tweet reads, a quotation from the Lord’s Prayer. Below the quote is an image of a monk, labeled as Donald Trump, praying and trying to ignore a woman, labeled as Twitter, attempting to seduce him by lifting up her dress to expose herself to him.

Jordan Peterson, newly reinstated from his own permanent ban, commented on the meme, saying, “You really are pretty d–n funny Mr. Musk.” While neither Peterson nor Musk is a self-identifying Christian, both men are highly influential and much lauded in evangelical spaces.

Trump’s reinstatement to Twitter may become a factor in the coming weeks and months with regard to his recently announced bid for re-election to the presidency in 2024, but it remains to be seen if regaining access to the platform will help him overcome an apparent dip in support among evangelicals.

Trump came under fire from some who had formerly been at the center of his base after he publicly insulted Florida governor Ron DeSantis just days before his re-election bid in Trump’s home state.

Referring to DeSantis as “Ron DeSanctimonious,” in addition to the presence of infamous prosperity preacher Kenneth Copeland at a rally, was apparently a step too far for some evangelical leaders, who are indicating that they prefer DeSantis to Trump in the 2024 presidential primary election.

However, it is worth noting that many evangelical leaders were similarly reticent to publicly embrace Trump during the primary election for the 2016 race, but they have nevertheless been a pivotal part of his overall political success since that time.
