“Children’s sermon: Pastor: ‘Whose birthday does Christmas celebrate?’ Children: ‘Santa’s?’ ‘No! Jesus!’ after which came one child’s lone loud protest: ‘Jesus? No, that can’t be. We killed him last Easter!’”

“Last year, my last Christmas Eve services of my 31 years of ministry, we were happy to be back after COVID, so we went back to our usual schedule of services at 5:00, 8:00 and 11:00. When surveyed, the congregation said they thought it was a great idea to have all three. Well, at 11:00 we had two people show up, one for her first time at our church. “The midnight mass started at 11pm and was due to finish right on midnight. The final carol was Joy To The World. The band started at 11:56. The drummer set the click track too fast but the train had already left the station. They sang all 3 verses, but then had to repeat the whole song 3.5 times until the clock struck 12am.”
