Using the metaphor of fishing to describe evangelism, Hall suggested that those who are critical of the event “don’t like the way fish smell. You don’t want to touch a fish. And then they wonder why they don’t catch any fish…It’s kind of obvious they don’t even like fish. They don’t even have a hook in the water.”
Remembering that Billy Graham once shared the stage with Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, Hall pointed out that Graham was boycotted by major ministers.
“I, frankly, believe that Chance’s life is being changed by Jesus. I believe he’s growing,” Hall said. “And again, he is risking way more than anybody else being a part of this event. He has way more to lose. So if he wants to use his trumpet and say, ‘Follow Jesus,’ then I say game on.”

While Hall hasn’t directly spoken to Chance the Rapper, he did share that the rapper has been asked not to use swear words or perform in an inappropriate manner.
“That being said, you give somebody microphone—it’s a risk,” Hall said. “But then again, the purpose of this is evangelism and outreach.”
“We have worship. We have the gospel. A bunch of people respond to Jesus. A bunch of people that didn’t come with a good idea of Christianity. They have are positive encounter and they feel the love of God and Holy Spirit breaks in,” Hall said, describing what he envisions will happen at the event. “If Chance gets up next and he swears, does God get out his eraser and say, ‘That name that’s in the Book of Life—I’ve got to take it back’?”
“The only people that blush over this are people that aren’t around fish,” said Hall.
