Kelly’s fourth album, “Tori,” was released on July 28 to rave reviews. Songs such as “shelter,” “missing u,” and “alive if i die” complete this project.
When talking about the new EP, Kelly said it “represents the happy place I’ve been in the last few years.” The song “Shelter” includes these lyrics:
When you got one life left inside of you
And you got too much on your plate
What you need is someone to carry you
Imma hold it down for ya
Jump into me jump jump into me
Already know what you need
Already know I could be
I could be your shelter.
Tori Kelly’s Rising Music Career
As a gifted singer and songwriter, Kelly recognized her own love of all things music at the young age of 12, competing on “Star Search” and “America’s Most Talented Kid.” She soon began posting music videos on YouTube and gained a respectable following. In 2010, Kelly won “American Idol” and launched her music career with her unique, soulful voice. It wasn’t long after her big win that she released her first album, “Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly.”
Around the time that she won her two Grammy Awards in 2019, Kelly told The New York Daily News that she was well-versed in receiving rejection. To encourage women who are experiencing closed doors and feeling dismissed, she said, “This is for any girl who’s going through that and feels that they’re not good enough.”
Kelly has released four albums and contributed to many others, including “Freedom” by Justin Bieber. The album contained gospel-focused lyrics alongside controversial swear words.
Among dozens of projects onstage and onscreen, she had the opportunity to sing in “The Journey: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli.” A highlight for Kelly was singing “Hallelujah” alongside Bocelli.
