Kate’s Sister, Nightbirde, Stunned Us All on ‘AGT’
“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy,” Jane said at the end of her “AGT” audition. She sang her original song, “It’s Okay,” telling the story of the previous year. A stunned Simon Cowell gave her the Golden Buzzer Award, advancing her to the competition.
Jane was a three-time cancer survivor and shared at her audition that she was battling the disease again. She shared, “Last time I checked, I had some cancer in my lungs, and in my spine, and in my liver.”
In an interview following her audition, Jane said, “I have a 2% chance of survival, but 2% is not 0%. Two percent is something, and I wish people knew how amazing it is.”
Later that year, Jane had to quit the competition due to the cancer advancing and the aggressive treatments she endured. She passed away in February 2022.
“Those who knew her enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion—even if the joke was on her,” the Marczewski family said. “Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she gave to so many through her music and the strength she found in Jesus.”
“Jane was a reflection of the Jesus that she loved,” said Pastor Todd Garman. “The reason she was so magnetic, magnanimous, others-centered, servant-hearted, intentional, was because she was imitating—imperfectly—the Jesus of the Scriptures.”
