“Yeah, that was it,” she agreed.
Lecrae shared that he decided to follow God after he got tired of looking for fulfillment in women, drugs, and drinking. Even when he backslid, God stopped him from going back to his old life. He asked if she experienced anything like that.
“It wasn’t anything that was like, ‘Nah, nah,’ other than just myself,” said White. “I was just like really honestly just tired of myself and tired of waking up and feeling a certain type of way.” And she knew she was smarter than how she was living.
For a while after her baptism, she was still partying and “getting lit.” Then on Sept. 14, 2022, she decided to get sober for real. She had tried before without lasting success, but September 2024 will mark her two-year sobriety anniversary.
Other changes White has made include avoiding social situations where she is likely to drink and being careful with her connections and her money. She gets some crazy offers for money, including being asked to play a “sexy stripper villain” in a movie. One time, she was pitched hosting a poker night where she could make $500,000 per famous friend she persuaded to attend.
This past year, she’s been “working out sobriety in the Bible, and if it doesn’t fall underneath that, then I’m just really not into it.”
Lecrae asked how she wants people to see her now. “I want them to look at me as a businesswoman, as a model, entrepreneur, just as a real person,” said White. “It’s Angie. I’m chillin.’ What’s up, y’all.”
