According to the PRT, current IHOPKC leaders should focus on sexual abuse prevention, create a policy for handling abuse reports, conduct background checks and training, and seek outside assistance to ensure thorough compliance with safety measures.
Seeking Healing and Restoration at IHOPKC
Current IHOPKC leaders and board members, the PRT added, should publicly acknowledge previous wrongdoing and harm, as well as the recommendations for improvement. “Present leaders should continue to publicly honor those who bravely came forward to report the sexual misconduct and those who have stayed at IHOPKC to continue the long healing process,” the team wrote.
Victims should receive professional evaluation and trauma-informed therapy, according to the team. And the current board of directors should apologize to the congregation and keep members informed about “the positive changes and safeguards that will be instituted going forward in order to ensure sexual safety and healthy interactions among community members.”
The remediation process should include counseling for victims as well as “group personal growth training experiences” for the entire church community. “If these had been the norm at IHOPKC, the abuse being addressed would not have happened,” stated the PRT.

The team’s report ended with suggested faith-based resources for congregations. The goal, it concluded, is to “build a more mature, whole-hearted, safe, and joyful relational community in Christ.”
