In a statement to WFAA, Goines’ legal representatives said that Goines and the church “wish to explicitly and unequivocally deny the recent allegations of sexual abuse made against Rev. Goines.”
“These claims are completely unfounded, untrue, and have no basis in reality. Rev. Goines and Koinonia Church have always operated with the utmost respect, integrity, and commitment to the community,” the statement said.
“Any interactions referenced in these allegations have been taken entirely out of context and misrepresented,” the statement added. “We fully support Rev. Goines and continue to stand by his character, leadership, and dedication to serving others.”
Earlier this week, a grand jury issued “no bill” on the sexual assault charge against Goines, citing that there was not sufficient evidence to formally try Goines.
The charge of indecent assault that remains is a lesser charge.
