On Monday, June 9, K-LOVE Radio informed The Roys Report (TRR) that it would not be playing any music by Newsboys or DC Talk in light of the recent sexual abuse allegations against Michael Tait.
Tait became an icon in the Christian music world after gaining notoriety alongside bandmates TobyMac and Kevin Max in DC Talk and later taking over the lead microphone for Newsboys in 2009.
In January, Tait announced that he was leaving Newsboys just days before the band was scheduled to embark on the multi-city Worldwide Revival Nights Tour.
Last week, it was reported that Tait has been accused of grooming and sexually assaulting three men in their early 20s between 2004-2014.
Newsboys claim that bandmates were unaware of Tait’s “double-life” until he confessed it to them before announcing his departure.
“We have obviously heard rumors over the years and each time something came up we tried to find the source and no one would tell us,” Newsboys’ new frontman, Adam Agee, told a Facebook group.
“We asked Tait each time something would come up and he would deny it emphatically,” Agee added.

As news regarding Tait’s alleged abuse has begun to circulate, local Christian radio stations throughout the nation began pulling Newsboys’ music from rotation. But K-LOVE, which has an estimated 14 million weekly listeners, is the largest Christian radio station yet to confirm it would pull music featuring Tait.
“Thank you for reaching out,” K-LOVE Communications Director Rhonda Roberts told TRR. “We are aware of the allegations against Michael Tait, former frontman of the Newsboys. As the investigation proceeds, our prayers are with all those involved.”
