Adam Agee, the newest frontman for Newsboys, told fans that the band was unaware of Tait’s double life. “We have obviously heard rumors over the years and each time something came up we tried to find the source and no one would tell us,” he said.
“We asked Tait each time something would come up and he would deny it emphatically,” Agee continued. “He called a meeting the first week of January and none of us knew that the next day we would be a 4 piece band instead of a 5 piece.”
In a statement issued by the band on June 5, Newsboys shared that Tait told the band in January that he “had been living a double-life.” But, Newsboys said, “We never imagined that it could be this bad.”
“Our hearts were shattered when we read the news alleging drug abuse and inappropriate sexual actions by our former lead singer, Michael Tait…We are devastated even by the implications,” said Newsboys.
