King praised the reporters for TRR and The Guardian and shared that he helped link the survivors of Tait’s alleged abuse with the outlets so that the survivors’ stories could be told.

“I hope that everyone centers the victims as you talk about this and think about it, rather than being worried about the fate of the Newsboys or of Michael Tait,” King stated. “I hope that you first center the victims, honor them, and seek restoration for them. I hope that this goes to court. I hope that Tait is brought to justice in a court of law.”

King then said he believes that others aided Tait in his abuse. “I think that someone can only engage in this level of predation for this length of time, [for] potentially two decades, with a team of helpers,” King expressed. “And I believe that Tait has a team of people who spend their time, energy, and money clearing his reputation and suppressing criticism or suppressing the truth.”

“While I don’t know much about those shadowy figures, I find it very hard to believe that his bandmates did not know,” he added. “The most recent report tells of hotel security camera video footage that we’ve now all seen. It tells of a police report.”

“And if you know anything about touring live for the music industry, there’s no way that bandmates and a manager would not know about a police report,” King added.

‘Michael Tait’s Confession Was BS’

King called Tait’s June 10 confession “B.S.”

In his confession, Tait admitted that “recent reports of my reckless and destructive behavior, including drug and alcohol abuse and sexual activity are sadly, largely true.” He then explained, “For some two decades I used and abused cocaine, consumed far too much alcohol, and, at times, touched men in an unwanted sensual way.”

“I think that it was an attempt to minimize the severity of the claims [and] I think that it was an attempt to deflect responsibility from his team of handlers,” King said in reference to Tait’s confession.

He added, “While I know very little about the specifics of the machinations of their world, I just, I don’t believe. I don’t believe it. I doubt, I doubt that they were oblivious.”

King concluded his video by reciting Amos 5:21-24:

I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Newsboys announced last weekend that their record label, Capitol Christian Music Group, has dropped the band.
