Charlie Kirk hopes that pop icon Taylor Swift’s engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce will influence the couple to become more conservative.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Swift and Kelce made a combined announcement informing Swift’s 280 million and Kelce’s 7.5 million Instagram followers of their engagement.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift wrote next to a collage of engagement photos.

Swift, who was raised in a Christian household, has received criticism from conservative Christians throughout her career for her support of abortion and the LGBTQ+ community.
Her latest 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” drew criticism from evangelist Shane Pruitt, who warned that “lyrics matter.”
“As Christians who are filled with the Spirit,” Pruitt warned, “should we be entertained by, sing with, and expose our kids to lyrics that aren’t just different than what you believe, but are actually mocking what you believe?”
YouTuber and Christian author Allen Parr even described Swift’s album as “anti-Christian.”
Kirk is the cofounder and executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). He is also an author and conservative media personality.
