“And so when you have someone who dies like Charlie has died, in such a violent way, it has worked the opposite for what the shooter wanted to do,” said Graham. “And I believe in God. I believe that my God made us and created us, he’s got a plan and a purpose for our lives, and there’s also demons out there. And these demons are warring against God and warring against God’s people.”
Graham voiced his belief that “we saw demons act” when Kirk was murdered. Graham also suggested there was demonic activity involved in the murder of Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee who was stabbed to death in August on a light-rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I believe there’s demon-possession, ‘cause Jesus cast out demons,” Graham said, “and Jesus spoke with demons, and the Bible is filled with examples of demons, and we’re seeing it manifest in front of us. But when people die in a violent way like this, I mean, it’s tragic.”
Graham said that his “heart goes out to [Kirk’s] wife and his kids. And I pray for them, that God will strengthen this young lady and get her through these next few days.”
