Unlikely Fighters of the Bible

An Unlikely Leader

Have you ever been certain God will keep His promise, but still wanted earthly confirmation? This easy mistake happened to a military leader, Barak, who was promised a military victory for Israel, but instead of trusting in God, turned to the judge Deborah, whom he asked to lead the army. Even though Deborah was not the one chosen to lead the army, she had faith in God’s promise and proved that God keeps His word.

An Unlikely Savior

When Herod heard that the Son of God was supposed to come from Bethlehem, he had his soldiers watch for those journeying to the city in power, someone whose presence would unite the Hebrew people. Someone already prepared to take up the throne. Yet the Savior of nations did not arrive in majesty, nor in any powerful way. The one who would save the world for all time was born in a stable.

It is the unlikely who do amazing things, and in God’s choice, their lives are completely transformed to His purposes. Some were raised from the humblest stations to become rulers. Others were turned from their lives of sin to lead devout and joyous lives. He is working in your life too, and even if you feel you cannot possibly be of use to God because of your sin or your status, you could not be more wrong.

I should know. God transformed my violent, bloody family into a family living for Christ. You can read these amazing, true stories about how God will use anyone in my new book, Unlikely Fighter.
