When we make excuses to avoid God's calling, there is oftentimes something deeper than disobedience happening.

We try to resist the sin of worry. We shame ourselves when we feel worried. We sometimes shame others because we perceive that they are worried. Don't give up. Keep reading.

Think about people who make you feel loved. What about them makes you feel this way? Without knowing you (or them), I can almost guarantee that they ask good questions and listen well.

During the last 15 months, some things did happen. No church just reopened their doors and went right back to the way things were before. Why? Because we need a lot more than a reopening. We need a reboot.

I’ve also said this before—I have the perfect pastor’s wife. Younger pastor’s wives, if you want to learn how to do it, I’d submit my wife as an example.

Where does the church go from here, when “here” is still awkward and anxious? There are some signposts, broad indicators, and common ground—rooted in the very nature of the church herself—which together provide a way back to church.
