Advent Devotions for Teens (cont.)

11. The Gift of Presence

Scripture: Matthew 1:23
Discussion Starter: What’s the difference between being “with” someone and being truly present?
Creative idea: Do a digital detox challenge. Encourage students to put their phones away for one hour a day to be present with God and others.

12. God Uses Ordinary People

Scripture: Luke 2:15-20
Discussion Starter: The shepherds weren’t famous or powerful, yet they heard the good news about Jesus’ birth first. What does that tell you about how God sees you?
Creative idea: Have teens write “I’m ordinary, but God can use me to…” statements and share them.

13. Preparing the Way

Scripture: Mark 1:1-4
Discussion Starter: John the Baptist prepared people’s hearts for Jesus. How can we prepare our hearts this Christmas?
Creative idea: Make a Path to Jesus art project with stones, footprints, or arrows pointing to the cross.

14. God With Us—Always

Scripture: Matthew 28:20
Discussion Starter: Jesus is still with us now. What difference does that make in your everyday life?
Creative idea: Give each teen a small ornament labeled Immanuel. Encourage them to hang it in a place where they’ll see it every day.

15. Christmas Is Just the Beginning

Scripture: John 3:16-17; Acts 1:8
Discussion Starter: Christmas is the beginning of God’s rescue plan. How can we keep living that out beyond December 25?
Creative idea: Plan an Advent After Party for January. Focus on serving others and sharing the gospel.

Advent devotions with teens don’t have to be formal or complicated. Simply reflect on God and what he has done for us. Help students experience the true meaning of Christmas: Immanuel, God with us. When teens learn to wait on God, they find something the world can’t give—lasting hope.
