Senior Summer (cont.)

4.  Don’t forget parents.

Remember: Parents are having a tough time too. This isn’t just about kids leaving; it’s about parents letting go. Moms and dads can feel like our time of being needed is over. So help them navigate the nest getting a little more empty.

Can you set up a summer coffee time with other parents of seniors so they can talk? Can you help them create something special to send their child off to the big unknown? Remind parents that their roles change now but are never over.

Most importantly, remember that senior summer, this space before takeoff, is important. After the graduation party, the reality of tomorrow hits hard. Grads may not even know how to pack, and the future is intimidating. So remind them that Jesus hasn’t left them and never will. What’s the next step in their journey with him?
