On Thursday, Sept. 25, Founders Ministries informed the public that Voddie Baucham, Jr. died earlier that day after “suffering an emergency medical incident.”
“We are saddened to inform friends that our dear brother, Voddie Baucham, Jr., has left the land of the dying and entered the land of the living,” Founders Ministries posted on X.
“Earlier today, after suffering an emergency medical incident, he entered into his rest and the immediate presence of the Savior whom he loved, trusted, and served since he was converted as a college student,” the post continued. “Please pray for Bridget, their children, and grandchildren.”
Founders Ministries concluded its post with Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

In Feb. 2021, Baucham experienced “full-blown heart failure.” Baucham had successful heart surgery in March 2021.
Weeks later, doctors discovered another blockage that require Baucham to have quadruple bypass surgery.
In 1993, Baucham founded Voddie Baucham Ministries. He planted and pastored Grace Family Baptist in Houston before serving as the dean of theology at African Christian University, which he founded in Lusaka, Zambia, for nine years.
Baucham was also a best-selling author and a founding faculty member if the Institute of Public Theology.
According to Voddie Baucham Ministries, Baucham held degrees from Houston Baptist University (BA in Christianity/BA in Sociology), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.) with additional post-graduate study at the University of Oxford, England (Regent’s Park College).
