In the crowded world of streaming entertainment, Bible-based content has been attracting lots of attention lately. According to data released on Tuesday (Oct. 21), three Christian TV series nabbed spots on the list of Prime Video’s Top 10 TV shows in the United States.

The Chosen Adventures,” an animated show that debuted Oct. 17, came in at No. 7. At No. 8 was “House of David,” which had a Season 2 release date of Oct. 5.

The Chosen,” which found a new streaming home with Amazon earlier this year, landed at No. 10—despite having no new episodes since summer.

Industry experts credit “The Chosen” for creating a wave of well-received Christian programming. The TV series about Jesus’ life, which debuted at the end of 2017, has been watched by an estimated 300 million people worldwide.

“The Chosen” proved to Hollywood that a large audience existed for values-based entertainment, according to media professor Diane Winston. “Streaming services are companies that need to make money, and what drives them is getting more eyeballs,” she told the New York Times. “If they think faith-based content is going to get that for them, they will invest in it.”

Season 1 of “House of David” had 44 million views and reached an estimated 80 million people. Last week’s Season 2 premiere picked up with the epic battle of David versus Goliath.

“House of David” is available to stream in the Wonder Project subscription channel on Amazon’s Prime Video. Writer and co-director Jon Gunn said the series is “filled with key biblical moments that are right out of Scripture.”

Jon Erwin, creator and co-director of “House of David,” said he aims to add “a greater sense of meaning and depth” to beloved Bible stories. He also hopes that viewers without a church background will “open up the Book that’ll change their life.”
