Rapper and country artist Jelly Roll testified to God’s work in his life throughout his recent conversation on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which was released Wednesday, Dec. 10. At the end of the podcast, an emotional Jelly Roll learned that a dream of his has been fulfilled: He was invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

“I just never thought this was the journey, dude. I thought I’d die young or I thought I’d kill myself. I didn’t think I was going to be able to figure it out,” said Jelly Roll.
“You figured it out, and you’re figuring it out more every day,” Rogan told him.
“It can happen dude, man, if God gets involved [and] you have a little humility,” Jelly Roll said, “I think the rest can work itself out, Joe, you know what I mean?”
“Amazing things can happen if you live your life true,” said Rogan.
Jelly Roll: ‘In God We Are a Completely New Creation’
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, was recently nominated for three Grammys, one for his collaboration with Christian artist Brandon Lake on Lake’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
Jelly Roll has achieved mainstream success over the past several years for hits including “Son of a Sinner.” Throughout his life, he has struggled with addiction, and in his youth, he was incarcerated multiple times. One of his crimes was a felony conviction for aggravated assault.

Joe Rogan is a comedian, UFC color commentator, and the host of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” one of the top podcasts in the world. He appears to be spiritually seeking and has said that he attends church.
The podcast began with Jelly Roll saying he’s excited to think that his and Rogan’s conversation might help some people. The two men mentioned that Jelly Roll had lost nearly 300 lb.
“You’re a totally new human being,” said Rogan.
