Pro-life advocates are reacting to the news that the Trump administration has restored tens of millions of dollars in Title X grants to Planned Parenthood and other grantees. The administration had suspended the funds last spring but restored them in December, reported Politico.
“The Trump administration has quietly restored millions of dollars in Title X grants to Planned Parenthood that it had withheld since March of 2025,” said Live Action founder and President Lila Rose. “PP kills 1,102 babies daily with your taxpaying dollars. We must fully defund abortion corporation Planned Parenthood!”
Trump Administration Restores Title X Grants to Planned Parenthood
On March 31, 2025, 16 Title X grantees learned that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) would be withholding Title X funds while the HHS looked into whether or not the grantees were compliant with federal civil rights requirements.
Title X is a federal grant program that supports family planning and related preventive health services for people with low incomes or limited access to care in the United States. Title X explicitly states that its grants are not to be used to fund abortions.
“This decision is seemingly based on the grantees’ public statements supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and opposing racism,” said the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in a press release April 24, 2025, “which HHS claims amount to a ‘possible violation’ of federal civil rights law, and a desire to ensure the grantees’ compliance with an anti-immigration executive order (Executive Order 14218, ‘Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders’).”
In that press release, the ACLU announced that it, the ACLU of the District of Columbia, and the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA) were suing HHS “over its unlawful withholding of $65.8 million in Title X federal family planning grants.”
NFPRHA is an organization that “represents family planning providers and administrators serving people with low incomes and otherwise without access to care.” Most of the group’s members are federally funded and include Planned Parenthood affiliates.
