Since being an American Idol finalist, Breanna Nix has continued to live out her faith on stage and in the studio with her new release, “Higher,” Grand Ole Opry debut, and invitation to join the “Summer Worship Nights” Cruise. Alongside the fame, Nix continued to struggle with the aftermath of growing up with an absent father. But, she found freedom after being baptized at a conference.
“I had been carrying rejection, shame, and burdens that weren’t mine to hold,” Nix said in a social media post. “In that water, I left it all behind.”

Through the competitions, record deals, appearances, and applause, Nix has continued to give the glory to God and prioritize her faith. She has also been dealing with a lifelong struggle—life with an absent father—that has threatened her joy.
“The absence of my father has been one of the deepest wounds in my life. For as long as I can remember, it left holes in me—chaos, questions, and struggles I’ve had to wrestle with for years,” Nix recently shared. “It made me believe I wasn’t enough, that I was unwanted, even unlovable.”
“I carried that heaviness for so long… giving it to God, then picking it up again through the years,” admitted Nix. She shared portions of her story on “American Idol,” and the artist plans to tell even more on an upcoming episode of “Whoa That’s Good Podcast,” with host Sadie Robertson Huff.
Nix shared that she recently attended a Live Original (LO) Sister Conference, hosted by Huff. Before the conference, Nix met a lady named Emilie at lunch. Nix recalled that Emilie had shared a vision with only Huff of what would happen that night at the conference—a dad praying over girls who had never received a blessing from a father.”
“No one else knew, and heck, she didn’t even know I had father issues.” said Nix. “But God had it all planned.”
That very night, a man prayed blessings over girls and women in the audience.
Nix experienced “years of weight fall off,” and she “wept harder and more than I think I ever have in my life.” Things she “thought were fully healed were still being remade.”
