We took a peek around Pinterest to see what creative Mother’s Day crafts are available, and boy did we find some good ones. Mother’s Day is a great chance to celebrate mom, and to teach children how to “honor your mother and father” (Exodus 20:12). We’ve pulled together the seven we liked the best. We hope these Mother’s Day crafts give you some ideas to engage the kids in your church this Mother’s Day as they learn how to honor Mom!
1. I Love You Because… Pictures
(Idea taken from and directions available at Soaring Through Second)
This cute idea has your kids holding a small chalkboard (or iPad, if you’re techie!) explaining why they love their moms. The child sits on the stool holding the chalkboard, and you snap a quick keepsake picture for mom. Instant Mother’s Day magic, especially if you have access to a picture printer or can use something like Polaroids.
2. Handprint Tote Bag
(Idea taken from and directions available at A Mountainous Journey)
Who doesn’t love their kid’s handprint? And what mom doesn’t need another tote bag? These totes are easy to make and will keep your kids busy decorating while you talk to them about ways they can honor mom on Mother’s Day and every day.
3. Flower Pot Card
(Idea taken from and directions available at Kare Wares)
This adorable card takes a little bit more prep time on the front end, but it certainly is fun. Your kids can assemble and glue the pre-cut pieces together or even cut them out themselves (if they are scissor-worthy, of course!). After it’s all assembled, the flower pieces say “I love you!” and include a picture of the child. Plus, the flowers tuck into the pot, making it easier for your kids to get it home from church in one piece.
4. From the Bottom of My Heart to the Tips of My Toes
(Idea seen on DIY Ready)
Again, you can’t go wrong with handprints and footprints. This is a great one that the moms in your church will cherish for a long time. Bonus: It doesn’t take a lot of supplies to pull this one off.
5. Train Up a Child Flower Card
(Idea taken from and directions available at The Browy Blog)
The moms in your church are sure to love receiving one of these flowers, decorated by their own kids.
The card attached to the bottom of these flowers reads:
Train up a child in the way they should “Grow” and they will not turn from it. Provers 22:6
Thanks for the Good Roots, Mom!
6. Flower Pot Hand Card
(Idea taken from and directions available at Food, Love, & Life)
This kid craft gives your kids a chance to express what it is they find so lovable about their moms. You’ll most likely get responses that run the gamut from funny to profoundly touching.
7. I Love You Because Book
(Idea taken from and directions available at Wayward Girls Crafts)
For this craft, kids get a chance to make their own little booklet about why they love mom so much. You can put as many pages on this booklet as you’d like and have the kids draw a picture to go along with each one. You may have to give your kids some ideas to start with, but once they think about it for a little while, they’re certain to come up with some adorable reasons they love mom.
