Joanna Gaines revealed this week that she now has her own Barbie doll, which she designed, in addition to a new Hearth & Hand With Magnolia Townhouse playset that she also designed. Joanna and her husband, Chip Gaines, celebrated the news this week on social media.
“What an honor it was to team up with the iconic @barbie to design my own doll and townhouse!” Joanna Gaines posted on Instagram. “Growing up, Barbie always felt to me like this big world of endless possibility and I hope this collaboration carries that spirit forward. 🛼 ✨.”

Joanna Gaines Has Her Own Barbie Doll
“Ya’ll, I have a Barbie!” Gaines said in a video showing her unboxing the new doll. In the video’s caption, she wrote, “What a dream this has been to design my own doll and townhouse with the iconic @barbie brand. Six-year-old Jo Jo would be losing her mind 🥹😍.”

In a blog about the news, Gaines said the opportunity to collaborate with Barbie arose a couple of years ago and was an “easy ‘yes.’”
The doll and the townhouse have a “retro aesthetic.” The townhouse was based on Barbie doll houses from the 1970s, with modifications based on what Gaines enjoys now, such as “my love of cozy spaces and baking at the kitchen island.” The house comes with removable stickers that allow kids to customize it.
The doll portrays Gaines with sunglasses, a t-shirt that says “1978” (the year that she was born), flared jeans, a plaid shirt, turquoise earrings, and roller skates. Roller skating was something that Gaines loved to do as a child. “A few years ago I started roller skating again, to feel that same sense of lightness and confidence that I did as a little girl and I wanted the doll to lean into that spirit,” she said.
“This collaboration is like nothing I’ve ever done. It was so fun, and so nostalgic. It has been an absolute honor to partner with the iconic Barbie® brand,” said Gaines. “A brand that has spent its 80-year history empowering young girls to dream big and believe that all of us can do or be anything we want.”

Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Recent Controversies
Chip and Joanna Gaines, who became famous for flipping people’s houses on the reality show “Fixer Upper,” have built an empire under their lifestyle brand, Magnolia. They have also been open over the years about their Christian faith.
However, this year they have come under fire from evangelical Christians because of certain TV shows they have chosen to executive produce.
The couple received widespread criticism in early July when the reality show “Back to the Frontier” premiered under a partnership between Magnolia Network and HBO Max. Of the three families featured in the show, one was made up of a gay couple, Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs, and their 10-year-old boys, who were born via surrogacy.
