Chris Pratt, Jonathan Roumie, and Gwen Stefani are helping to guide participants through Hallow’s Advent prayer challenge leading up to Christmas. Hallow is a prayer and meditation app, and, this year, its prayer challenge features John Mark Comer’s book “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.”
“It’s the most wonderful time of year: Christmas. The joy, the family time, the presents,” said actor Chris Pratt in a Dec. 1 Instagram video encouraging people to download Hallow and join the challenge. Pratt is an actor known for starring in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Jurassic World,” and “Parks and Recreation.”
“The cookies,” he continued, holding up a plate of cookies before tossing them over his shoulder. “Of course, I don’t eat those any more.”

“The real reason I love Christmas—it’s so much more important—it’s because we are celebrating the greatest gift God has ever given us and that is his Son, Jesus Christ,” said Pratt. “I would love for you to join me and millions of other Christians around the world praying this year on Hallow. Together we can focus on what’s really important about this extraordinary season.”

Hallow is a Catholic prayer and meditation app that regularly offers prayer challenges that follow the Christian liturgical calendar.
The app partners with celebrities, including actors Jonathan Roumie, Mark Wahlberg and Jim Caviezel. In 2022, Hallow partnered with members of “The Chosen” cast for that year’s Advent prayer challenge. Last Christmas, Hallow teamed up with Bear Grylls, Gwen Stefani, Kevin James, Lauren Daigle, Jonathan Roumie, and Pastor Francis Chan for its Advent prayer challenge.
Michael Iskander, who stars as David in the hit series “House of David,” led people through a different prayer challenge on Hallow in September.
Advent began Sunday, Nov. 30, and will end on Christmas Eve, which is Wednesday, Dec. 24. This year’s Advent prayer challenge is titled “Be Still.” Guide Gwen Stefani is a Grammy Award-winning and -nominated artist who rose to fame as the lead singer of No Doubt and has appeared as a judge on “The Voice.”
