SBC President Clint Pressley Endorses Tennessee Bill Allowing Death Penalty for Abortion

Willy Rice, a 2026 SBC presidential nominee, posted, “This is an excellent statement from our SBC President. Thank you Clint. Southern Baptists want convictional, courageous leadership.”

SBC pastor Tom Buck wrote, “It’s wonderful that @pastorclint supports this bill to abolish abortion. It’s the kind of leadership needed. It also shows the SBC would do fine without the ERLC—who has actively opposed such bills.” Buck added, “All the SBC needs to do is keep electing the right president to be the right voice on these issues.

Seth Gruber, CEO and founder of The White Rose Resistance, said, “President of the SBC just endorsed the TN equal protection for little babies bill! Praise God!”

SBC Pastor Michael Linton disagreed with the proposed legislation and instead said he believes prosecution should be directed at providers.

“Nope. Clint doesn’t speak for Southern Baptists,” Linton said. “Make abortion illegal. Prosecute the providers. Don’t prosecute the mothers. The stand of the pro-life movement for decades.”
