When Aaron awoke, he said that he was back in his bed, not in New York, where his encounter took place.

“I was back in my bed in the hospital, because, like, when I saw him, it was, like, from one moment, I’m laying in my bed, the next moment, I’m in New York,” he explained. “This literally looked like my old neighborhood in New York and it was cold and snow and then I went from there back to being in bed and the pain was gone.”

“It was like I was intubated so I couldn’t talk, but I knew I didn’t need surgery or anything,” Aaron added. “I couldn’t tell anybody and then the doctors confirmed it through tests that I needed no surgery.”

The encounter did not change Aaron’s belief in God but instead strengthened it.

“I grew up in the church, so I was always a believer, but this made it, increased my faith, I would say, because when I found out that I coded, that made so much sense to me because instead of it feeling like just a vision, it was, ‘No, you died,’” Aaron said. “And God brought me back. Like, he placed his hands on me and I came back. So, it feels like I was given a second chance.”

Although he said he does not fear death, Aaron shared that he hopes he is going to heaven when he dies.

“I don’t think I’ve had a fear of dying. I feel like when [God] is ready to bring me home, I just hope that that’s where I’m going,” he said, before explaining, “I try to live the kind of life that when it’s all said and done, I’ll head to heaven.”

“I rather go up than down,” Aaron elaborated. “So I feel like with him literally bringing me back to life, my work here is not done—I got more to do, so there’s more to the story.”

Aaron shared that his recovery is going well, and he is getting stronger daily.

“I’m getting stronger each and every day,” he said. “I feel like God is driving, so I’m along for the ride, and I’m prepared to go where he’s trying to take me.”

“The Blind Side” grossed more than $309 million in theaters worldwide following its 2009 release.
