After Crosses Outside SoCal Church Are Burned, Authorities Suspect Hate Crime

Howard said the congregation has been a part of the community for nearly three decades and seeks to be a family-oriented church. According to their website, Sylmar Christian Fellowship Church is regularly involved in community outreach, including a prison ministry and food distribution ministry.

A Spanish language congregation also uses the facility to hold services. 

Though damaged, Howard indicated that the crosses would remain where they are, saying, “The crosses will stay up. The crosses will be fine…We’re going to put those three crosses back up. We’re moving forward. Nothing stops us.”

The House of Worship task force, which includes members of the LAPD, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, has been assigned the investigation.
