Maine Church Leaders Address Vigil Attendees After Mass Shooting

After the worship service, Ganong described how the community’s “sense of peace and security” had been shattered by the violence of the Maine shooting. “This has infringed upon their safety,” he said of residents. “But I understand that we live in a world that is evil. And it was probably a matter of time before it infringed upon us.”

Investigators are working to determine the suspected gunman’s motives. News reports have been focusing on his deteriorating mental health. According to a national database, the Lewiston killing spree was the 36th mass shooting in America in 2023.
