Both brothers are outspoken Christians. On Dec. 30, 2023, during a press conference ahead of the Rose Bowl, Jim Harbaugh was asked why Jesus was “such a key figure” for him. He replied, “I have a feeling that if Jesus would have come back now in this era, I suppose that many of the biblical analogies and teachings would be about sports.” He added, “Solomon would have been a great coach, too. I have that feeling. Jesus would have been a…five-star player, no doubt about it. He would have been a Hall of Fame coach.”
Jim Harbaugh, a Roman Catholic, is pro-life—and not afraid of being cancelled because of his beliefs. During a 2017 team trip to Italy, Harbaugh met Pope Francis. He takes yearly mission trips and works with an organization that offers legal assistance to low-income populations.
