Pastor Derwin Gray emphasized that it is God’s job, not ours, to bring people to himself. “The power of the Holy Spirit is what awakens who Christ is in us, in our desire to long for him. So that’s number one, is we have to trust God to be God. And then number two, the person of Jesus is not independent from the church.”
Gray encouraged church leaders not to fear using “The Chosen” as a tool for the gospel but also to make sure they are directing people to Scripture as they do so.
“We tend to not be on the cutting edge of technology, and we tend to live from a posture of scarcity and fear. And so it’s important to understand that this is a mode of communication to point people back to the sacred Scriptures,” said Gray. “So what we have to do is explain that clearly, explain that confidently, and explain that for the glory of Christ.”
