Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, has been mentioned in a lawsuit against Grammy Award-winning rapper and entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Jakes teamed up with Combs in 2021 to bring sermons to Combs’ cable television network, Revolt.

The lawsuit was filed by Combs’ former music producer, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, on Feb. 2 and claims Combs sexually abused Jones. Jones is seeking at least $30 million in damages.

Jones alleges that, on many occasions, he witnessed Combs, his family, and his associates engage in sexual abuse, use and distribute illegal drugs, and “lace alcoholic beverages to minors and sex workers,” some of whom were under the age of 16. Jones claims that Combs sexually assaulted him by groping his “anus and genitals” and would frequently walk around naked in front of him “to groom him into accepting a homosexual relationship.”

“Mr. Jones was the victim of constant unsolicited and unauthorized groping and touching of his anus by Mr. Combs,” the lawsuit reads. Jones claims that Combs promised him that he would be “producer of the year at the Grammys if he engaged in homosexuality.”

Other allegations include a shooting that Combs and his son, Justin Combs, were involved in, which Jones witnessed. Jones said that Combs instructed him to lie to police about the shooting.

The lawsuit mentions that Jones believes Combs planned to leverage his relationship with T.D. Jakes to protect his public image following a lawsuit filed by Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in November 2023.

Ventura claimed that Combs raped her, beat her, and trafficked her over the span of their relationship. A day after the lawsuit was filed, she and Combs reached an undisclosed settlement out of court.

Jones says that Combs detailed “how he planned to leverage his relationship with Bishop T.D. Jakes to soften the impact on his public image of Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit.”

During a Christmas Eve sermon, Jakes addressed rumors that he had participated in sexual acts with men at sex parties that were hosted by Combs. One allegation included the claim that a young man had acquired a lawyer to sue Jakes.
