“This is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime night of live music and celebration for all generations to experience,” said Dan Fife, CEO of Awakening Events, the company presenting the tour.
Third Day played 12 shows as part of the band’s farewell tour—which quickly expanded to 20 concerts. It has been 11 years since Powell, Lee, Karr, and Anderson have toured together.
“Third Day has always been, first and foremost, a live band,” Lee shared with CCM Magazine. “The best way to celebrate 30 years is to get back together for a tour. I can’t wait to get back out on the road with these guys and put on a big show for our fans.”
“We can’t wait to see you soon,” said Lee.
30 Years of Third Day
Over the past 30 years, Third Day has been called “one of the best rock bands, period,” by Billboard Magazine. Back in the day, Mac Powell and Mark Lee formed Third Day while they were in high school. It wasn’t until their contract with Reunion Records that the band’s popularity skyrocketed.
Since then, music from Third Day has produced hits both in Christian and mainstream music.
Ten other band members—each spanning a year to 13 years with Third Day—have contributed to the band’s sound and impact on Christian music over the decades. Throughout this time, keyboards, mandolins, banjos and harmonicas were added to the band’s repertoire. Many fans were hoping to see some of the former band members join for the reunion tour.
